Yeah, that's right, a tsunami is here! That is, a tsunami of missionaries anyways. This week 28 missionaries have been picked to go to the Zhu Nan zone and just go finding all day everyday for them. My dear companion, Sister Fisher, got picked. So I am left to manage Sister Training leader stuff and my area for about a week. But guess what? I get to be companions with Sister Fan again! Oh man, we were so excited(: So along with my area I will be taking care of her area. Also we got volunteered for a mini tsunami in XiangShan, so that's a third area. It's a party ;) I am so excited to see the miracles that unfold this week!
This last week flew by! Time is so crazy. Last Monday Sister Fisher and I had a really cool experience. We had planned to go finding by this man's house in our ward. As were were biking there Sister Fisher suddenly didn't know if we were still in our area, so we decided to turn a different way and go finding somewhere else. I kept getting drawn to this one street, and we realized it was an LA's house. We pulled out our ward list and found the name of the member were were originally going to go finding by. We realized the original direction we had been going was very wrong, so we continued down the street we were on then. We got to his area and started finding. Everyone was rejecting us. I saw two women down the street and felt like I needed to talk to them, but at the same time I knew that they were going to reject us. I asked God, "Why do you want me to talk to them if they are going to reject us?" I kept walking, but saw a house with a woman inside and instantly knew she was the person we were supposed to talk to. Well, turns out she was that one member's daughter! She was super sweet and she is now our investigator! It was so cool to see God's hand in all of that! He was trying to get us from point A to point D, but first He had to get us to B and C. The whole time I had no idea why I was going the way I was going or why I needed to talk to the people I was talking to, but God had a plan! He always has a plan! He is guiding us every step of the way!
This week we went on two exchanges with the Zhubei sisters because one of them just had surgery so she's stuck in bed all day. On Wednesday I stayed inside with her and then on Friday I had the opportunity to go out and work with Sister Knapp. On that day it was about 40 degrees Celsius outside! It's finally getting hot in XinZhu. It was a really fun exchange! We went and sang for old people and then we went to their investigator's baptismal interview. The interview went over an hour and she came out crying. This woman was so happy to be getting baptized. She just came up to me and gave me the biggest hug. It was one of the most spiritual things I've ever experienced. This woman was so excited to make that first step in returning to Christ. She was so overwhelmed with love and happiness. She was glowing. Absolutely beautiful.
One day all of our plans fell through. We did all of our back up plans but some of those fell through as well. We had a little time before going home and we were determined to find a new investigator before the night end. We started biking home and decided we would talk to whoever we felt impressed to talk to. We were at a stop light and this boy pulled up next to us. Without thinking I was asking him to pull over and talk with us. Well, he did and he became our new investigator! God saw our efforts and desires and provided a miracle! So many things like this have happened on my mission. God is a God of miracles!
My companion shared this scripture with me this week in 2 Nephi 27:23, "For behold, I am God; and I am a God of miracles; and I will show unto the world that I am the same yesterday, today, and forever; and I work not among the children of men save it be according to their faith." I love that! God will never change! If we exercise our faith God will put forth miracles! Trust that He is there! Trust that He loves us! Trust that He knows what is best for us. Trust in Him. He lives! I know it! I love you all so much!

A God of Miracles

This week was filled with random little miracles. God is seriously so amazing. I am so grateful to be a tool in His hands in bringing about the salvation of His children! Last Monday night we went biking to a place in our area to go finding, but when it got dark we discovered that Sister Fisher didn't have her safety reflective vest (it's a rule for missionaries that you can't ride your bike unless you're wearing it). So we decided to walk back to the apartment to go and get that. On the way home we met an awesome guy that we prayed with and gave him a Book of Mormon, I chased after another man to give him a pamphlet, and then we sang with this sweet old woman. I love to see how God works with our mistakes. We aren't perfect, but this work is.
One day we went out to lunch and there wasn't any room to sit, so we ended up sitting at the same table as this other woman. We ended up having a good conversation with her and then giving her a Book of Mormon. I truly believe if we open our mouths God will give us the words to say to spread the gospel to everyone. He is guiding us! Then that night we had a good chunk of finding to do. We left our apartment and the first woman we met became a new investigator! We biked a little bit further down the street and met a tongxue and she also became a new investigator! We finally got on the main road and we reached a stoplight. I saw we only had about 15 seconds left, but I found myself talking to the man next to me. I asked if we could pull over and talk to him for a little, and he became a new investigator too! He even set a baptismal date! Seriously! 3 new investigators within an hour. God is a God of miracles!
This last Sunday was so crazy. So on Saturday we had run into these men near the hospital that were chewing binlang (It's a drug) and smoking like no other. We talked to them for a little, invited them to church, and then left. Well, on Sunday we suddenly saw them walk into the chapel! It was so surprising but so amazing! It goes to show that everyone needs this gospel, even the ones that you don't think. And then after church this random woman walked into the building and said she wanted to learn more! We set up to meet with her!
God has put so many amazing people into my life. Our investigator, Cindy, hasn't been able to meet with us because her parents fandui. So please pray for her that she will be able to keep exercising her faith. We are hoping that our investigator, Qiu Jie Mei (the one that walked into English class several weeks ago and asked me if I remembered her) will get baptized next Saturday! Pray that she will keep developing her faith and have a desire to be baptized!
I think the biggest blessing of my mission has been that I have had the opportunity to be a tool in God's hands. It is such a beautiful thing to see this work come about. It's amazing to see how all the little details fit together so that things work out so perfectly. Some people might say coincidence, but I know that it's God's set up. He lives! He loves us! He knows us.
I love this work! I love Taiwan! I am so happy with my life right now(: Look for the tender mercies that God gives you! You will recognize His hand in your life more. I love you all!(:

"Master the [Typhoon] Is Raging"

A typhoon hit Taiwan this week! And as exciting as that sounds, I'm in the safest part of Taiwan, completely protected by mountains, so it wasn't that exciting haha! On Wednesday people started talking about it, Thursday night it randomly poured, and then Friday night was the fun night! We were out tracting when it randomly POURED! I was soaked! Then the winds started picking up. That night Sister Fisher was biking ahead of me and we kept swerving because of the wind. I watched as she came to a complete stop haha! I pushed on with all my might against the wind and passed her, but all of a sudden it switched directions and it was pushing us down the street SO fast! I just kept laughing! That night the winds raged and it was hard to sleep, but the next day we were all ordered to stay inside. Everywhere on the island BUT XinZhu it was a raging storm. We sat inside all day while nothing happened outside haha! God is really protecting me(:

Other than that, last Monday I decided to cut my hair. BAD IDEA. I allowed a Taiwanese man to get near curly hair with scissors. He literally pulled my hair out of its pony tail and was about to start cutting when I stopped him so I could part my hair. He then went to the back of my head, chopped off a chunk, held it up to me and said, "Is this good?" Well... I guess so haha! It looks like I did it myself (I should have done it myself). Well, when in Rome ;)

Wednesday night we had the most amazing English class ever! Only 5 people showed up, and 4 were new. The fifth was our golden investigator, Cindy. We taught about food and played a fun game where we all stuck a picture of food on our head and had to ask yes/no questions to figure out what we were. Then for our spiritual share we talked about the Word of Wisdom. When we got to the part that says we don't drink tea and coffee, everyone was just nodding their head in agreement! Wow! Greatest students ever! Then I asked one of the new students if he had ever prayed before and he said no. Cindy pulled out a pamphlet and started teaching him how to pray! After the prayer she bore her testimony about how prayer really does work! She's not even a member and she's an amazing missionary! Then she invited the two boys to come to church that Sunday! SHE'S AMAZING!
We met with a new investigator this week, Su Mama. She's the mom of Sister Fisher's recent convert's husband. She's so cute! We taught her the Plan of Salvation and she loved it! We also set a baptismal date for her for the 12th of next month!
This Sunday we were sitting in church waiting for it to start and none of our investigators were there. All of a sudden about 2 minutes before the meeting started our investigator Qiu Jie Mei walked in and sat by me (her phone broke so we haven't gotten in contact with her since last Sunday). Then I looked at the pew right in front of me and Su Mama was sitting there with her son and daughter in law! Then I saw another girl and realized it was Cindy! Oh my goodness it was the coolest moment ever! God is so amazing! He has seriously blessed me so much this transfer!

During Relief Society Su Mama told everyone that she really wanted to come to church every week and keep looking into it because everything here was so good! And we met with Cindy after church and she really wants to get baptized! She believes the Plan of Salvation is true. She's just worried her parents will fandui! Please pray for her! She has a date for the 29th of this month!
The transfer ends this Friday, and even though it was 7 weeks long it was the fastest transfer of my mission! I really saw God's hand in everything and know that He is guiding me! I love my companion so much. It's still so unreal to me that we are serving together.
I have been pondering lately how much of this work truly is us. If God really wanted to He could do this work all on His own. So why does He allow us to do this work? He wants us to learn and to grow. He allows us to make these relationships with these people and to feel the joy that comes from spreading the gospel. All He expects of us is that we obey His commandments so that He can bless us. Obedience brings blessings! I know it! Sister Fisher and I have worked so hard this transfer to be obedient and we have seen the blessings that come from it! I know that commandments are given to us from a loving Heavenly Father. "He doeth not anything save it be for the benefit of the world; for he loveth the world" (2 Nephi 26:24). I know this to be true. I also know that this church is true. I know that God is living and that He loves us. I love you all!

If Planted It Will Grow

Well, this was a short week (in the sense that there were only 5 days, otherwise it felt longer than most weeks). I'm not really sure what to talk about other than ARLYN GOT BAPTIZED!!!!!! Definitely the highlight of my week! I am so happy right now! It was so beautiful. We sat by her and translated for her the whole time. I got to go up with her and translate her testimony. She is so sweet and on Sunday she received the gift of the Holy Ghost(: Her baptism was a miracle because we didn't know if her boss would give her time off until the night before! God is a God of miracles! I love this gospel!

We had a meeting in Taibei on Friday, and I ran into Sister Tan who told me that Dong Dixiong in Hualian has a baptismal date! I just started crying I was SO HAPPY! I love the work of the Lord! There is so much happiness!
On Sunday Cindy came to church! Then after church we met with her and she is absolutely amazing! She ran into some missionaries on the street one day and they gave her an English Tract. She decided to come to English class. She said that she felt really happy at the church building and wanted to come to church. She really wants to be baptized! We have a date for her for the 22nd of this month! But she's 17 so she needs her parent's permission and she's a little worried that they will fandui. So pray that God will prepare a way for her! (:
Yup. That's my week in a nutshell! I love XinZhu because there is so much wind, so this summer hasn't been too bad. The members here are amazing! There are so many sisters that are returned missionaries so they are awesome in lessons! I love my companion so much! My life is just too good right now(:
I'm so grateful for this gospel in my life. As I watch people convert to this gospel I get an opportunity to think about my own conversion process. And I it really is a process. Conversion doesn't happen over night. It's like planting a seed. If the tree doesn't sprout immediately we don't just give up on it; we keep working on it. That's the same with our testimonies. We sometimes don't see our own growth, but if we are doing the things we are supposed to do then we are growing. Three simple things that us missionaries always share are reading scriptures, praying, and coming to church. Through these three things we can gain a testimony of the truthfulness of this gospel. And I KNOW this gospel is true! I know that it can bring more happiness than anything else!
I love you all so much!(:
