Angels in the Shower

Hello!(: I went to the temple this morning and it was so wonderful! I'm so blessed to be a part of a mission that I have the opportunity to go to the temple! It really is a little bit of heaven on earth(: This week helped me build my testimony of miracles. I saw so many!
The first one: last week we had stopped at a 7-11 to use the restroom. I saw a toothbrush there and wanted to know how much it was. I asked the lady next to me, and she was nice and helped me. We were leaving and I felt prompted to just give her a tract for our English class. She seemed really interested and then suddenly told us, "Hey! I've been to Utah before and I watched a video at the temple square." So we were able to share with her more about our church and she met with us again this last week! She had so many awesome questions! If we hadn't of needed to go to that bathroom we never would have met her. God is seriously guiding!
The second one: this woman showed up to English class and said to me, "Do you remember me? You gave me an English tract last week at that one stop light!" Well... to be honest I meet a lot of people at a lot of stop lights haha! But we ended up meeting with her and setting a baptismal date with her! She really wants to get baptized and learn more! Goes to show you never know what will affect people.
The third one: This one is pretty funny. We had finished a lesson at 9, so our curfew was pushed back to 9:30. We were outside the apartment complex when my companion's name badge fell off and went into the gutter. (Not like a dry gutter either...). She was DETERMINED to fish that thing out before 9:30! Haha! So we were crouching by this gutter trying everything to get it out (including tying a magnet to a string and using two sticks as chopsticks). Nothing worked and it was getting close to 9:30. We decided we would try again in the morning. That night I told her, "Sister Fisher, I have enough faith that God will perform a miracle and tomorrow morning that name badge will be out of the gutter." The next morning we were coming back from exercise and we looked in the gutter and it wasn't there! We went up to the room and it was sitting on her desk with a note saying that it had been fished out and cleaned! Our two angels were still in the shower, but it was a miracle performed by God nonetheless. Most people would put this off as a coincidence, but I definitely attribute it all to God. He works in many different ways in order to help his children, even if that way is just two sister missionaries.
The fourth one: ARLYN CAME TO CHURCH!!! She passed her baptismal interview and is scheduled to get baptized this Saturday!! That was seriously such a miracle because she called us right before church saying that she could come! We are so excited for her! Pray that she will make her baptismal date!
The fifth one: Several weeks ago we meet this sweet girl, Cindy, in English class and set up to meet with her. Houlai she stood us up and she kind of just slipped under our radar. On Wednesday she came up to us and said, "Hey, I want to come to church this Sunday." We said of course! As the week went on we totally forgot, but then on Sunday she just showed up to church on her own! She didn't need any reminding or anything! It was so awesome!
The sixth one: We were biking to dinner and I saw all of these a'mas sitting around talking. One caught my eye and I had this very vague feeling I needed to go back to her. I kept arguing to myself, "Nah... she's too old." Finally I told Sister Fisher and she told me, "No one is too old for a cookie!" Haha! So we park our bikes in front of a house and walked back. Nothing came from it, and I was thinking "Why did I have that feeling?" We went back to our bikes and this woman was waiting in a car to get into her garage. We quickly moved our bikes out of her way. Sister Fisher then said, "That was too much of a coincidence for it to be anything other than God's set up. We have to talk to her." So we went back, and she was amazing! Her name is Katie and she teaches English. But she was really interested in why there were so many different churches. We were able to share with her about the restoration of the gospel and give her a Book of Mormon! She was so receptive to everything! It's amazing because God gave me that prompting to go back so I would park my bike and later run into Katie. HOW COOL IS THAT?! This work is amazing!
This was an incredible week! I cannot get over how incredible God is! I know that this is His work and He is in charge of this! He has a perfect plan and knows how to help all of His children! What an honor it is to be a missionary! I love it so much! I love this work! Ah!(: Miracles. They're real. You just have to look for them.
I love you all!(: <3

That Mission Life

This was an incredibly fast week! I went on three exchanges so I had the opportunity to work with many different missionaries this week and I loved it! And this week was FILLED with miracles! God is absolutely incredible!
I got to go on exchanges with Sister Wood, which was really cool because she was the first missionary that greeted me in the MTC and took my around to my room and classes and stuff. So that was really fun working with her(: We saw a lot of miracles together, like getting lost but still managing to share the "Because He Lives" video with some tongxues. It was really fun(: We also got to meet with Ling and her two daughters and teach them the Plan of Salvation. They loved it! Ling had so many awesome questions! We set a new baptismal date for all of them for the end of next month because they are going out of town for a while. Ling told us, "I really want my husband to get baptized with me." How awesome! She really knows that this gospel is a blessing! I love that!
Wednesday was a miracle day! That morning we had interviews with President Jergensen. He is awesome! It was really fun talking to him one on one. Then Sister Fisher and I met with a member's daughter. She was really sweet, but basically was like, "I'm only meeting you guys because my dad wants me to." But by the end she was willing to set a baptismal date! Pray for Liu Jie Mei! Then Sister Fisher and I ended up at a 7-11. She felt prompted to talk to this woman that was just sitting outside and smoking. Her name is Chen Jie Mei and at first she was very closed off to us, but then we were able to watch "Because He Lives" with her and pray with her. Her whole countenance changed throughout the whole time we were talking with her! It is so cool to see the Spirit working in people. She downloaded the Book of Mormon onto her phone and set a baptismal date for the end of next month! It was a miracle! This truly is God's work and He's guiding us every step of the way!
I went on exchanges with Sister Beeston (who lives in our apartment) and brought her into our area. It was so much fun! That night we had the opportunity to teach Arlyn, our beautiful investigator from the Philippines. This was the first time we had taught an English lesson in a LONG time! So right before we prayed with our peike that we could have the gift of tongues so that we could speak English (how strange is that?). God definitely led that whole lesson. Arlyn is absolutely amazing and has so much faith! She just needs to come to church one more time before she can get baptized! We have a goal for her for the end of this month, so pray that she will be able to come to church this next Sunday!

You would think that I would get used to riding my bike by now, but this week alone I managed to fall off of it 3 times haha! I'm sure others are very amused by a strange white girl biking in a dress and falling at random times ;) Also, our back patio keeps flooding because the hose on our washer machine leaks, so we are always trying to mop that up. Adventure is out there! ;)
Taiwan is as beautiful as ever. The people are amazing. This work is the work of the Lord. I know that without a doubt. I see miracles everyday, and I know you can do if you look hard enough. God is always by our side! Life is so beautiful. I love you all!

5 Hundred 25 Thousand 6 Hundred Minutes

I hit my one year mark this last week. That is so crazy to me. It's even crazier that I am here serving with Sister Fisher. We met each other a year ago! We keep talking about those good ol' MTC days and how crazy time is. I don't even want to think about it. I am loving my life!
This was a fast week! We went on two exchanges with our sisters and they were so much fun! My very first exchange was in my area. Luckily I didn't get lost and I managed to find all the appointments we had set up ;) The second one I went with a sister that had been visa waiting in the states for two transfers and just got here. That was also very fun! I love being with so many amazing sisters!
This week the weather was very strange because a typhoon passed by Taiwan. It would be really hot and sunny one minute and then just a sudden down pour of rain. It was actually quite fun haha! At one point we were biking and we got to a stop light. The light turned green and I started biking, but my shoe slipped off because of the rain! So I watched as about 12 cars ran over it haha! Thank goodness for rubber crocs ;) Sister Fisher came to my rescue and ran out and saved it.
When Sister Jergensen first got on the island she used an awesome analogy for sharing the gospel. She started telling us that she had made some really delicious chocolate chip cookies, but as she thought about it more she wasn't sure if we were the cookie type. She was also nervous that if we didn't like them she would be embarrassed. She also realized that us missionaries are super busy, so maybe we didn't have time to eat one! She then said that sometimes we use these excuses when sharing the gospel. I really liked that. I believe everyone has time for a cookie!
So the other day I was biking and I passed by this girl who smiled at me. I had this feeling that I needed to go back and talk to her, but I started making excuses. "We don't have time. She's probably already left that spot. If we went back that would be going against traffic." But I put the word "cookie" in there and it changed everything! Of course she needs a cookie! Who doesn't?! So we turned around and we ended up having an awesome lesson with her! She said that she normally avoids missionaries because they approach her very awkwardly, but she loved talking with us! We were able to give her a Book of Mormon and invite her to come to English class! It was so cool! This world needs cookies!
We didn't have much luck this week with meeting our investigators. They all got busy... or they all lost interest. But that's ok! Everyone has their own time. I was on exchanges when Sister Fisher met with Ling, but apparently she has some awesome questions! She kept asking what the purpose of life is and how we can return to God's presence! She is so awesome! She's going out of town for the next couple of weeks though. Please pray for her!
As a missionary I get the opportunity to meet so many different kinds of people. I absolutely love it. I also get the chance to hear everyone's outlook on life. I'm very surprised to hear that most people don't care where they came from, why they are here, or where they go after this life. It boggles my mind that people have never thought about these questions before! It makes me so grateful that I know God's plan for me and for all of His children. I'm so grateful that God gave us this life to learn and to grow. I'm so grateful He gave me my family so that I could develop these relationships with people that I love. I'm also grateful that through this gospel I can live with my family forever and return to Heavenly Father's presence. This knowledge helps me know who I am and who I can become. If you've ever asked these questions before, please talk to the missionaries! Seriously, this is our purpose. We are here to help people understand God's plan for us! How lucky am I? I absolutely love it.
I love Taiwan. I have never been happier. I love these people. I love my Savior. I'm so grateful for this chance to serve Him with all of my heart. I know this church is true without a doubt in my mind. I love you all and have a good week!
The members took us out to dinner. Look at all the food they bought!!

We named my hair Frederick!!

Abish Sisters

It's already Monday? This was such a fast week FILLED with miracles! I love 新竹 Xin Zhu! I love Sister Fisher so much! We have just been laughing and talking non stop this whole week. I love it. I also got to meet the new mission president! President Jergensen is so awesome! I love him and his family already! His 19 year old daughter and 15 year old twin boys are living over here too and they are all so cute! He is such an amazing President and I'm so excited to see what is going to happen with this mission!
We have this one investigator and her English name is Ling. Sister Murri and Sister Smith found her a couple months ago, and this last week we set a baptismal date with her for the end of the month! On Sunday morning we went to visit her at her house, and her family was there! We did a quick family home evening with them and they are now our investigators as well! WE FOUND A FAMILY! And they are amazing! The husband had never said a prayer before, but he very willingly said the closing prayer! Then Ling and her two kids came to church that afternoon! It was amazing! And that day in the gospel principles class they talked about the Word of Wisdom. Sister Fisher and I were kind of like, "Uh oh, how is she going to take this?" But the whole time she was nodding her head and adding in her own thoughts and opinions. After the class she told us that she had already been following the Word of Wisdom her whole life! Ah! That was so awesome to hear! She is amazing!(:
Sister Fisher and I were out finding one day and literally we could not find anyone to talk to. We finally felt prompted to knock this one specific door. This kid, Kevin, came out and he was like, "Hey, I lived in Utah for a month and went to the temple there! Can I come to church with you?" Um... yes! So this Sunday he came to church! He seemed to enjoy it! That was an incredible miracle!
So there is this one investigator here who is actually from the Philippines. Her name is Arlyn. Sister Murri and Sister Smith found her right before Sister Fisher got here. She has come to church once because the a'ma that she works for always needs her home on Sundays. But his Sunday we showed up to church a little early and got a call from Arlyn. She said, "Hey, I can come to church today!" Oh my goodness! So she came to church! She also has a baptismal date for the 18 of this month! God is a God of miracles!
We had 6 investigators at church this Sunday! What! That was so cool! God is absolutely incredible! One of them was this eleven year old girl, Pan Jie Mei. She is so cute and SO sassy! She cracks me up! But she's been coming to church for a while, she just can't find time to meet with us. But she came this Sunday and stayed afterwards for a baptism. She was impressed by the fact that an 8 year old girl was getting baptized. So pray for her that she will have a desire to follow Christ and get baptized!
This week we had some funny moments. President Jergensen talked to us about Alma 19 and this woman named Abish. She was converted unto the Lord and she ran from house to house to spread His gospel. He told us that we may not physically run but we need to be spiritually running to proclaim this gospel. Well, that night Sister Fisher saw this woman walk by us and said, "We need to go after her." She started running after her. I started running after Sister Fisher, but I accidentally hit her and knocked her water bottle out of her bag. The woman turned when she heard the sound, and all she saw was me running after her, so naturally she picked up her pace and ran off haha! What a sight that must have been ;) Poor woman. We told President Jergensen our story and we are now referred to as the "Abish Sisters." Haha!
Also, Sister Fisher tried teaching me how to properly get onto my bike, but that resulted in my bike falling on the ground and my reflective vest to be all caught up on my bike haha!
My life is too great. I know that God still performs miracles in our lives. I know that He is constantly watching out for us and wants what is best for us. I love this verse in the Book of Mormon: "And if there were miracles wrought then, why has God ceased to be a God of miracles and yet be an unchangeable Being? And behold, I say unto you he changeth not; if so he would cease to be God; and he ceaseth not to be God, and he is a God of miracles." I know this to be true. I invite you all to look for the miracles and tender mercies in your lives. I know they are there! God lives! The church is true!

Move Calls!

Guess who's not in Hualian anymore? That's right, I've moved back to the Taibei area! I got the move call on Wednesday night that I would be leaving Friday morning. Then Thursday afternoon at about 1 I got a call saying that I would be leaving at 6 o'clock that night! No chance to say any good-byes, I was just out of there! I am so grateful for my time in Hualian. Sister Meyers is all grown up and taking over the area!
But guess who my new companion is: SISTER FISHER! Oh my goodness, I couldn't believe it when I saw both of our pictures next to each other on the screen. We are so excited to be working together! We are the Sister Training leaders over two zones. I am now serving in 新竹 Xin Zhu. It's this little city that's about a 2 hour bus ride west of Taibei. I already love it here. It is so beautiful and so great.

I feel like so much as happened this week and yet I have no idea what to talk about, haha! Well, this week in 花蓮 Hualian we saw a lot of cool miracles. We knocked this one house and this woman invited us in. She said that a while back to met with missionaries and then she moved here. She said that recently she had been flipping through the Book of Mormon, and then we randomly showed up on her door! She set up to meet with us again. Another man we found last week and he had the old translation of the Book of Mormon. We gave him a new one and we told him we could come back and talk a little bit more about it. We went this week and he told us that last week he had been feeling really sad and upset, but then we knocked on the door. He said that when we prayed for him it made him feel so much better! He had so many awesome questions! It was really exciting to see God guiding us to these prepared people.
So on there are these two girls that are from Hong Kong and they talk about their conversion story. When Sister Knight and I were traveling to Taibei we were struggling with all of our luggage and these random girls came up to us to help us. I recognized them as the girls from, so I got a picture with them haha! Mormon celebs... No big deal ;)
This last transfer meeting was so crazy. So many awesome missionaries went home, my mission mom, Sister Murri, included. It was also President and Sister Day's last testimony. They leave tomorrow! That is so crazy. Life is so strange out here on the mission. I love it.
Sister Murri shared a really awesome scripture at the transfer meeting. In Mosiah 18:30 it says, "And now it came to pass that all of this was done in Mormon, yea, by the waters of Mormon, in the forest that was near the waters of Mormon; yea, the place of Mormon, the waters of Mormon, the forest of Mormon, how beautiful are they to the eyes of them who there came to the knowledge of their Redeemer; yea, and how blessed are they, for they shall sing to his praise forever." I agree with Sister Murri and this scripture. Taiwan has become so beautiful to me because this is where I have truly met my Redeemer. I have come to understand His redeeming grace. I have felt His love for me. I have felt His Atonement everyday of my life. I am so grateful for this time to come closer to Him and to help others come unto Him. It really is my honor to be serving among the Taiwanese. I love this place. It is so beautiful.
I know that God has a plan for every single one of us! I know that He is guiding us everyday. His plan is a plan of happiness. Trust in Him and He can help you find more happiness than you've ever experienced before.
I love you all and hope you have a wonderful 4th of July!(:
